Should I be on medication..do I need help?
Sounds like you do need help but medication isn't the answer, it might actually get you in worse shape! First of all, you need to get over your fear of Change and get the hell away from your father. If you guys are fighting often and he drinks a lot it's certainly not the environment you need. Second, grab a good book on self help, believe me, self psycho-analysis is way better than a shrink. I'd suggest some books but I don't know about your belief system. Just don't go with the first one that falls into your hand and try to stay away from shrinks books and New Age ones. Third, I'd suggest a little exercise that will help you keep your mind quiet and make it stop bothering you: Sit in a quiet room in a comfortable chair or sofa and empty your mind of all the junk inside, quiet that little voice inside of you, think of nothing at all (it IS possible and a form of Contemplation). If you have to concentrate to do it, stop. Concentration is your enemy in this exercise. Just relax and empty your mind. Do that everyday for 15mins or so. You won't succeed the first few weeks, even months sometimes, but with patience and perseverance you'll get it going, it'll become easy then and you'll see how much better you'll feel doing it everyday.
